Railroads
Grundy County businesses are served by four mainline railroads: the Burlington Northern-Sante Fe, the CSXT, Union Pacific-Southern Pacific Railroad and the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railroad. These allow for direct connection with every major railroad throughout the Midwest including linkage to Chicago, which is the largest rail center in the United States. Commuter service to Chicago is available in nearby Joliet and Dwight.

The Illinois River has always been considered an excellent system of transportation. By connecting with the Des Plaines, Kankakee, and Mississippi Rivers, businesses are able to cost effectively transport bulk cargo from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico.
